Why the cool-down period?

At Golden Gloves Fitness, we have procedures and policies that we carry out to make sure everyone’s workout feels complete. When you first walk in that door, we have you begin with a warm up by stretching and doing abdominal work and only then we have you training or proceeding to your more intense workout.  As a rule, you cannot start putting a lot of pressure onto your muscles without breaking that first sweat because it works as a lubricant for your muscles and bones and as a signal for your body to get ready for some serious intense training.

Once you are done with your training, you cannot terminate your exercising just yet. Not so fast! You must have a cool-down period before exiting that door. But, what is a cool-down period? And when should it happen? A cool down period are light exercises that do not include weights and are meant to calm you down, great cool-down practices are the following:

•    Skipping rope or a light jog (no more than 15 mins or 2 laps)
•    Abdominal work such as press or stomach squeezing
•    Stretching, including squats
•    Medicine ball exercises (make sure you take it lightly)

And other exercises that you deem acceptable as light, including light bags. If you are not sure which exercises are classified as cool-down, please feel free to ask our coach Alex or come by and workout

A final point we would like to mention is that always try have a fun atmosphere like we do here at our gym. If you do not cool down properly or finish at heavy exercises such heavy bags or weights, you might experience irritation of muscles, bone cracking, and stiffness of the areas of the body that you worked out.

It's never too late...

A lot of people think that they must compete if they want to box. That is not true, you can box Golden Gloves Fitness, we go at your pace and slowly push your body above & beyond. We understand that working out can be challenging that is why our head coach, Alex, is here to switch things up to keep your exercises interesting. At fitness gym in Vaughan, there is never a dull moment and always a positive atmosphere. You don't have to be competing just to exercise.

You can use your strength that you attain from boxing & fitness in many situations that you may encounter in life, physically and mentally. Listen to what your body has to say. Ask your body this: "body, where do you need to be worked on today?" And then concentrate on it and you will feel which muscles need to be developed and which bones need to be moved. As stated before in the previous post, it's all about: once you break that first sweat...

Once you break that sweat your muscles and bones become lubricated and it becomes easier for you to workout. You feel better and an hour just flies by. Generally speaking it is not recommended that you work out more then an hour and a half per day, unless your the next Jon Jones who takes a few hour breaks in his workouts and returns back to training. But, what other benefits are there when it comes to boxing & training? Well...that is a good question and they are (but not limited to):

  • Weight control/ loss 
  • Health realization & motivation to improve your help
  • Getting rid of unwanted substances in your body
  • Increasing positive thinking due to endorphin release
  • Improving bone & muscle density
     
The last point is very important for those who wont to raise their weight. The impact that you receive back when punching the bag actually makes your bones and muscles denser due to resistance. When you have too much energy...

Feeling too excited? Or sometimes like you have too much energy & don't know what to do with it? At Golden Gloves Fitness, we have a solution for that: come and let it all out at our gym! We do boxing and fitness exercises that will have you really moving! And this leads to our next point: if you want to have a good night sleep then there is no better way than exercising or a playing a sport.

Even if you are already tired, boxing & fitness re-energizes you and makes you feel refreshed. It is a great source to keep busy and focus on your life altogether. According to our Martial Arts instructor Terry: "exercising allows you to have a better circulation" which leads to "better choices". Now that we are in the back to school time of the year, we embrace the new school year with courage and pride. Our fitness facility in Vaughan is here for anybody who wishes to enhance their overall health and to individuals of all ages.

When you break that first sweat

One of the best methods to change your mind and the way you are feeling is by breaking a sweat. Once you feel warmed up, you already start feeling better. It is better to keep on exercising constantly so that working out feels less like a chore. When you first break that sweat, it lubricates your muscles so that you can continue your workouts in the future. Indeed, boxing & fitness is for everybody and  our gym, located in Vaughan, is meant for anybody who wants to feel and look better.

Once you break that first sweat at Golden Gloves Fitness, you will feel much better and you will want to take on new challenges as you progress. At our gym, we train you how to be quick and at the same
time effective when training. Our head coach, Alex, is here to monitor your performance while you progress in your exercises. We will have your whole body moving each and every class! We train like we are going to compete because we want to see results. Please note, however, we always customize our classes based on your level and requests, you don't have to compete if you want to box!

Warming up, properly stretching and cardio is only the beginning of the workouts at our gym in Vaughan. We then progress to heavier exercises such as: weights, bags, and sparring. Our coach, Alex, will have you do rounds on the focus pads for the first few times you come to the gym before you feel confident enough to spar. At anytime, please do not hesitate to inquire about our fitness programs, we are more than happy to explain to you our training schedule.

It is all about going back to that moment when you first finish your workout; that you haven't had in a long time. That feeling of accomplishment, the feeling of being refreshed, like you are almost new. That is what we are about at our sports gym, we are about changing lives. Working out & at the same time having fun doing it

At Golden Gloves Fitness, we maintain a fun atmosphere for all to enjoy. We don't want your workouts to feel like a drag, that is why we keep a lively setting that is full of fun and activities. At
our gym everybody is welcome to come in and improve their health and have a good time while doing it. We maintain a small to personal class size so that you can get comfortable and so that it is easier for your to get into the shape that you are always looking for!

But, let's put all the fun aside and focus on your boxing. At our gym, doing your training properly is paramount and we do what ever it takes to make sure that you punch properly, have a good stance/balance and that your overall workout is carried out correctly. We make sure that you are fast with your hands and feet and that you learn something new each and every time you come to our gym in Vaughan. We are always looking forward to it.

It is very important that you do your training sessions properly so that you can fully benefit from the effort. For example, always make sure that the index side of your fist lands on the bag first so that you do not hurt your fingers while punching & many other technique our head coach, Alex, would like to share with you. We’re being fit at Golden Gloves Fitness

But, how are we being fit? And what does fitness mean to us?

At our gym, we take fitness and boxing very seriously. Our coach Alex always examines your stance and how you punch and corrects you as you go along. Only doing exercises properly will allow you to reap from the benefits. Boxing and fitness literally transforms you to a better physical and mental you. It allows you to reflect on yourself and ask: what can I be doing better? And this is when you ask our coach Alex and he will be more than glad to instruct you what to do next.

Aside from a good posture, we teach you how to be fast with your hands and how to be well-balanced on your feet. A good balance is vital for your boxing success in addition to calculating your space

between you and your opponent or the bag. At Golden Gloves Fitness, the bag is at first your opponent and then we pair you up with a partner to practice movements, techniques and to see how it is like to be sparring with another person.


When you are boxing, you enter the ‘zone’. A state that allows you to forget about everything: bad thoughts, a queasy stomach or even that tired-dragging feeling. Why is that? Well, it is because your body cleanses itself from all that unwanted substances and allows new energy to enter. Isn’t it great? So why don’t you come out and give boxing a try, it is for everyone, for all ages. And, yes, we’re open to anybody who wishes to improve their health and mental wellness.

Boxing motivation in Vaughan

A lot of people ask this question: why should I box? I don't want to compete. At Golden Gloves Fitness, the answer to this question is: you don't have to compete to box! Boxing is a great source for fitness and motivation. Feeling a bit gray? Well, come by our gym in Vaughan and lively up! At our club, we always keep a fun atmosphere that is meant for everybody! Anybody can box and so can you. It is as simple as that.

At our gym we make it easier for you to train or workout. We will teach you how to be fast with your hands and at the same time be defensive. Training for Competitions

A lot of people and gym enthusiasts ask us this: do we train for competitions? And the answer is: YES!

Our main coach Alex, has all the information about how to sign you up and follow through you with you towards yours path to competitive boxing. Do we have a boxer that is currently competing? The answer is: YES! Our fighter, Agustino just fought his 1st match at the Danforth Music Hall in Toronto and what a performance did he display! His next fight is in September and we wish him all the best. We also want to spread our boxing knowledge with other fighters just like you, so that you can reap the benefits that Golden Gloves Fitness has to offer. We're located in Vaughan at Jane & Highway 7. Ok, how do you guys train at your gym?

We place emphasis on speed, technique and defense. Our head coach Alex, always like to tip that you have to keep your distance from your opponent. We want you to be fast with your hands. Indeed, it is really hard not to get distracted but Alex helps you to stay focused and remain sustainable throughout sparring or an actual match. We also do a lot of cardio and abdominal work to build you that core that you need for competitions. Additionally, we train for all weight classes, levels, ages and orientations. At Golden Gloves Fitness there are no contract, sign-up or membership fees, for us it is all about you being fit. Sports, weight & diet control

Did you know that sports allow you to control your diet, hunger, and weight? But, how? This article will
examine and answer exactly that question. Firstly, when you begin exercising, your body sends signals to your stomach to go into 'sleep' mode to allow you to workout without distraction from hunger. Now, if you have an upset stomach, it might not go away but it will definitely be more controlled due to endorphin and other biological reactions happening in your body while you are training.

The truth is that while and when you workout, you reflect on your body and what works best for it. In other words, you get a better feel of how your body functions and you begin to think up creative ways of nurturing your body. After a workout at our sports gym, our members have reported to go home and eat healthier food to improve their physique. Indeed, having a fit body is inspirational and you want to keep on going in order to keep all of that hard work up. You exercise 4-5 times per week, why not treat your body to a good diet?

Weight control is really important as you don't want to be too skin or too oversized. After exercising at our gym in Vaughan, you will examine yourself each and every morning and will always want to improve your tone, posture, and overall physique. What is better to be lean and toned-down or to be overweight and have extra muscle? Of course the first is better than the latter. Why box and bit fit?

A lot of people ask themselves this: why should I box and be fit? And at Golden Gloves Fitness, we are not surprised that even our gym goers ask themselves this question from time to time. We should go back to the beginning, to the route of the problem, to the time before you started working-out and see how you felt. The truth is, just like any other activity, working-only gets more doable throughout time and consistency. Let's get the dread out of the way first and move on to the more important parts of getting fit. Essentially, you should box and be fit because as humans we are meant to be active and not sit in one place.

We are all born with a wonderful gift: our body. It is priceless and you get to have only one. Take care of it. And boxing is one of the best ways to do so. At our gym, when we mention boxing, we don't necessarily mean sparring. We mean stretching, warming up, cardio, weights, bags, pads, and so much more! A sports gym for everybody

Golden Gloves Fitness is a sports gym that is meant for everybody from children to adults, we are here for you. We are more than just a fitness center, we are your #1 location for health, wellness, training and exercising. We are are here to make it easier for you to get into that shape that you have always desired. By
making you sweat and break challenges, you can achieve the level that you always wanted. But, how do we do that at Golden Gloves Fitness?

We start by assessing your level from the 1st class (that's right first class is free!) and we continue by building you way up from there. Our head coach, Alex, is here to analyze your posture and techniques and correct you as you progress along. At GGF, all ages, levels and orientations are welcome at our health and wellness center. All you need to bring is yourself and your gym clothes. If you have any questions, please free to ask us, even if they're not boxing or fitness related. We like maintain a positive & fun atmosphere at our gym.

 Your 1st class will look like this:

  • Warm up, stretching and doing light cardio/ abdominal work
  • Once you have broken that sweat, our coach will work on your exercising techniques
  • Light bags and sometimes partner training
  • Light weights and then proceeding to heavy bags
  • Heavy weights and continuing onto other heavy bags, all the time being instructed by our coach
  • Cool down period with the skipping rope, abdominal work and cardio
On the 2nd floor there is Ideal Protein, a weight-loss/control product that is meant for a healthy diet. And also we have another instructor, Terry, that teaches karate, qi-gong, and tai-chi. For boxing & fitness, there are no memberships or hassles, it is just you becoming the best and fittest. We're located at hwy 7 & Jane in Vaughan, ON. Why should I box? The question that so many people ask. At Golden Gloves Fitness, our 1 word response results. Boxing allows you to sweat out all that unwanted substance in your body and come up with a new and improve shape in the morning. After the 1st work out, the next day right away you will observe curves, new muscle and better feelings. After the next few workouts, you will see that your bones have gotten stronger and balance more equal.

Difference between boxing and fitness at our gym

At Golden Gloves Fitness there is a big difference between fitness and boxing. We understand that each and every member has their own personal requests when it comes to getting in shape. This is
why our trainer Alex is here to build a customized workout schedule that works best for you because we
want to reap the benefits from your exercises. Firstly, our boxing program focuses mostly on capability and technique. As for fitness, we focus on your overall body development and core. At our gym, we are dedicated to provide the highest services when it comes to you achieving your goals.

What kind of member do we have at our gym? At Golden GlovesFitness, we have an open-minded policy that accepts anybody who is interested in improving their health and wellness. We have children, adults, men and woman of all orientations at our location, located north of Toronto. Separate classes are always available upon request that you deem a suitable setting for your training and workouts. With free parking, change rooms and in a convenient location (Jane & Hwy 7) we are here to make it easier for you to get in the shape you want with our experienced instructors.


How will my first class look like? We start by analyzing your strengths and weaknesses and proceed to build your body and mind from there.
